A digital microscope is a model of a conventional optical microscope which uses light and electronics to produce an image to a display, either by way of software or by physical medium running through the sample. It differs from the conventional microscope in that it does not use lenses, so it does not require real-time viewing of real objects. However, just as with its conventional counterpart, it can magnify objects up to two thousand times. The main difference between the digital microscope and a regular microscope is that it uses different sensors to obtain its images. The camera is used to take the image and the microscope is used to examine the image and determine the image with the appropriate instruments.
