As the first woman to be appointed Vice-Chancellor of a co-educational university in India, she made significant strides in promoting education and gender equality. Her commitment to learning was evident from an early age; she graduated with a B.A. (Hons) in Philosophy from Baroda College, becoming one of the first Gujarati women to earn a college degree.
